BEAUTIFUL BEDDING

BEAUTIFUL BEDDING

Did you know that we spend almost a third of our lives sleeping?  That’s why a bedroom is one of the most important rooms in a home. Unfortunately for most, the master bedroom is often forgotten in the styling stakes. Usually because visitors don’t venture in there.

But here’s the thing. Your bedroom should be the one beautiful space where you can take sanctuary, and choosing beautiful bedding is the perfect place to start!

Rest Well. Live Well.

Bedding is the first thing you see when you wake, and the last thing you see when you go to bed. So you want your bedding to make you feel calm and happy. Choose colours and textures you absolutely love and your master retreat will always have you feeling rested when you wake.

Indulge in Down

When it comes to a comforter (or doona), choose a 100-percent down comforter that will fit inside a duvet. Then match your down comforter with gorgeous linen that has a high thread count. You never want to skip in the bedding department, because a good night's sleep is truly priceless.

Thread Count Counts

Ask any stylist and they’ll tell you thread count really matters when it comes to luxurious bedding. Thread count is the number of horizontal and vertical threads per square inch in the fabric. Generally, the higher the thread count, the softer the sheets will be. Quality sheets start from 200 to 800, and go as high as 1000. If you love a very soft, sumptuous feel, then a 400 thread count will have you feeling like you’re in heaven every night.

Cozy Comfort

For comfortable bedding from top to toe, invest in a range of down comforters, mattress toppers and pillows. Buy the highest quality pillow you can afford, so your neck is supported and you’re well rested each morning. Decorative pillows on the other hand, which you use to achieve a layered effect in your bedding, can be inexpensive. If you're someone that sleeps on their back, then a foam pillow will give more support than down. If you sleep on your stomach, try a softer down pillow instead.

Layering Linens

Layering your bedding and having different sets for different seasons, is key to setting up a beautiful bed. Invest in a couple different sets of patterned sheets that you can swap around for variety. It’s also a good idea to have a couple of coordinated quilts you can add to your sheet set, especially when it's too warm for a winter duvet.

Quality Lasts Longer

Choose quality bedding that will stand the test of time and many years of laundering. You’ll find 300 and 400 thread count Egyptian cotton lasts and washes perfectly (and it will feel amazing to sleep on).

Heavenly Hues

Choose a timeless colour combination and you'll enjoy your beautiful bedding for years. Organic colour combinations like white and brown create a serene mood and suit every decorating style, from traditional to contemporary. A palette of soft blue and white, creates a cool, serene mood and dramatic shades like plum with black and lavender accents, give a room a sexy, boudoir feel.

For a livelier and modern bedroom style, introduce bright colour and bold patterns. Tangerine and blue add a playful touch to a traditional ensemble, whilst a mix of patterns or prints in the same colour - think checks, dots, circles and diamonds - play off of each other for a eye-catching effect.

Pretty Pillowscaping

When it comes to styling your bedding, it pays to learn the art of “pillowscaping." Create a big statement by standing at least 5 or more pillows on end. Place the largest or European pillows at the back, standard pillows next, followed by the smallest decorative pillows at the front.

For an uncluttered look, place two standard rectangle pillows flat on the bed, with two decorative rectangle pillows flat on top of them. Then simply prop a decorative cushion in the centre
